Local resident Rose Gunter, an estate agent in Diep River, has started an exciting initiative aimed at revitalising the sadly neglected Kendal Road Park.
According to Rose the Kendal Road Park is very obviously neglected, and in its current condition unfit for purpose. “Taking a walk through the ‘Park’ there is a lot of litter broken bottles and litter and whatever facilities that were there have either been vandalised or removed,” says Rose. It has such obvious potential and in a conversation with some colleagues who work in the surrounding areas we thought why don’t we do something about? We have formed an ad hoc committee and we are keen to hear from other residents who are keen to contribute to this cause.
When international Brazilian architect Romeu Santana, who used to live in Wynberg, volunteered his services as a project consultant free of charge, the project gained serious momentum earlier this week. #ThanksRomeu
The first step in the initiative is to formally motivate the project with the Cape Town City Council after having received unofficial encouragement to do so. To this end Rose is gathering input and comments on the initiative from anyone affected and from the community in the area.
A public meeting will be held shortly. Please email your interest in this initiative by emailing our project co-ordinator and chairperson of the adhoc committee Rose Gunter on krp@diepriver.co.za
