Sunday Classics at Maynardville Open-Air Festival

Sunday Classics at Maynardville Open-Air Festival

There are just two weeks left of the Maynardville Open-Air Festival but it is literally packed with shows, including two unmissable Sunday night concerts.

Derek Gripper 25 February

World-renowned guitarist Derek Gripper will perform live under the stars for one night only on Sunday 25th February 2018. Drawing on European classical traditions, avant-garde Brazilian music, Malian kora, Cape Town folk, and even Indian classical music, he has created a new and beautiful guitar music which has carried him to the world`s stages including his Carnegie Hall debut in 2015.

He comes to you at Maynardville, fresh from his winter North American tour.

Gospel Classics 4  March

An explosion of Gospel Classics, from sacred to new and popular joyous tunes, sung by a choir of 20 voices with classically trained lead singers, and accompanied by a live band. End off the Maynardville Open-Air Festival with a rousing evening.

The Taming of the Shrew till 3 March

This production of The Taming of the Shrew features a historic all-female cast of Alicia McCormick, Daneel van der Walt, Buhle Ngaba, Lynita Crofford, Kathleen Stephens, Kate Pinchuck, Naledi Majola, Dianne Simpson, Ann Juries and Masali Baduza, with a special appearance by Ameera Conrad. The show is also driven by an all-female creative crew.

Share your picnic and win…

It’s a Maynardville tradition to picnic before the show. Even if you cheat a little and buy the food and drinks from our venue vendors!

We are challenging you to snap a picture of your picnic or your gathering of picnickers to stand in line to win some great prizes including…
