Adore it or abhor it, you can’t escape the universal day of love. And while Valentine’s Day (14 February, for those who tend to forget) has become an age-old tradition defined by shop-bought red roses, heart-smattered teddy bears and boxes upon boxes of gooey chocolates, your personal Cupid-themed celebration doesn’t have to be quite so cliché. So, if you’re looking to spend Valentine’s Day in Cape Town (or any other amorous special occasion, for that matter), think outside the heart-shaped box and woo him or her with a truly inspired romantic escapade.
From incredible dinners and hotel stays to unique couples’ experiences and exclusive promos, here’s our pick of things to do this V-Day in Cape Town.

The Wavescape Art Board Project has been raising awareness and funds for ocean charities since 2005. We invite artists to turn surfboards into art for an exhibition and auction. This year, comedian Rob Van Vuuren will run the auction at the Jack Black Brewery for some fund-raising, fun and frivolity.
Sold to highest bidder on night of the auction: Tues 28 November. Doors open 7pm. Auction starts 8pm, although Rob will no doubt do some comedy first. Contact us if you would like to bid by proxy or phone. firstname.lastname@example.org / 0835095106

This event is hosted by the Diep River Community Policing Forum where we will be commemorating the start of the 16 days of Activism for gender and domestic abuse. There will be activities throughout the day and food stalls as well as organisations that deal with abuse to let the community know there are places available that can help.
Support the local community security providers as well as neighbourhood watches by buying some food from the stalls. As it is the start of the 16 days of activism, there will be companies and government departments also taking part advertising their services for the public. There will be entertainment throughout the event, snake show, fire safety display, marimba band, drumming and lots more… Please come support the Diep River CPF and SAPS.
